Ministry Opportunities

 ALTAR SERVERS:

ADULT ALTAR SERVERS:
We welcome the participation of baptized and confirmed adults who would like to assist as altar servers. Contact the parish office at (920) 868-3241 or click here to email if you are interested in making this a part of your parish stewardship.

YOUTH ALTAR SERVERS:
This is an excellent way for young people to participate more fully in the liturgy and serve the Stella Maris faith community. Youth in the 3rd grade and older that have received the Sacrament of Holy Communion are welcome to join our parish ministry by assisting the priest and deacon at our Masses. Training is provided for those willing to participate and opportunities exist for weekend Masses, special liturgies and Holy Days of Obligation. In our parish Mass times and worship spaces change during the year, if interested in making this a part of your stewardship please contact the parish office at (920) 868-3241 or click here to email to determine which worship site would best fit your availability.

 EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION:

Lay persons who have been trained assist in distribution of the Holy Eucharist in the Host and Precious Blood of Jesus.  Some Eucharistic Ministers also assist in taking the Holy Eucharist to homebound persons, people in nursing homes, or at weddings and funerals. Guidelines for this Ministry and training are provided as needed.   Once trained, Eucharistic Ministers are able to choose the Mass times and sites at which they wish to serve.  For more information, please contact Mary Gomoll at (920)562-4020 or click here to email.

 READERS:

Readers are lay persons who, after having been trained to proclaim the Word of God, proclaim the First Reading, the Psalm (when a Cantor or Musician is not present), and the Second Reading. Following the Creed, when there is no Deacon presiding, the Reader will read the Universal Prayer and after Communion the announcements will be read.  Guidelines for this Ministry and training are provided as needed.  Once trained, readers are able to choose the Mass times and sites at which they wish to serve.  For more information, please contact Mary Gomoll at (920) 562-4020 or click here to email.

 SACRISTANS:

This role is crucial in ensuring everything is ready for the celebration of Mass.  Sacristans open up and lock the church, prepare the sacred vessels, the wine and hosts, the sacred linens, the liturgical books and any other special requirements for the Mass such as Holy Water, vestments, or additional books. They light the candles and ensure all the liturgical roles are filled. If a minister is missing, the sacristan finds someone to fill in. They are also responsible for cleaning the vessels and putting things away after Mass. They may also serve at weddings or funerals.   Once trained, sacristans are able to choose the Mass times and sites at which they wish to serve.  For more information, please contact Mary Gomoll at (920) 562-4020 or click here to email.

 USHERS:

Ushers are the first welcoming face our parishioners and guests encounter. Ushers serve at weekend and holiday Masses by selecting the Gift Bearers, seating parishioners and guests, assisting physically disabled parishioners and guests, passing collection baskets, coordinating communion lines, and assisting anyone who becomes ill or needs assistance. They also distribute any special bulletins or information and help keep our churches tidy.  Once trained, ushers are able to choose the Mass times and sites at which they wish to serve.  For more information, please contact Mary Gomoll at (920) 562-4020 or click here to email.

MUSIC MINISTRY:

Musicians, cantors and singers help inspire the congregation to raise their voices in song to praise and thank God. Singers are needed to form a choir for special liturgies such as Christmas, Triduum, Easter, First Communion and Confirmation. In order to help lead our congregation in song, we need help of those individuals to whom God has given musical gifts. Those who have been given the gift to sing or are trained musicians are always welcome to play additional instruments at our liturgies. For more information please contact Beth Screnock, Stella Maris Director of Music and Worship at (920) 868-3281 or click here to email.

CHURCH LINENS and VESTMENT MINISTERS:

The people in this ministry launder and press the sacred linens used during Mass, the vestments, and the albs. Several vestments need to be dry cleaned. These are also cared for by these ministers.   For more information, please contact Mary Gomoll at (920) 562-4020 or click here to email.

PEW AND ENTRY WAY ORGANIZERS:

These ministers keep the pews, bulletin boards, and church vestibules neat and tidy.   For more information, please contact Mary Gomoll at (920) 562-4020 or click here to email.

ART AND ENVIRONMENT:

Volunteers create the welcoming sacred space where we gather as community to worship God. These ministers beautify our church sanctuaries with live green plants, fresh flowers, and the liturgical colors and symbols of the season. If you enjoy arranging and caring for plants and flowers, we need your help. For more information, please contact Mary Gomoll at (920) 562-4020 or click here to email.
